November looks like we’re in for a bit of a respite after a busy October, with only four events on the kingdom calendar.
Starting the month off, the Canton of Skorragarðr will be hosting Axman XIII from Friday November 3rd through Sunday November 5th, and the crown will be in attendance. The camping event will include championship competitions in archery, bardic, rapier, thrown weapons, and arts & sciences, as well as activities including a Helga Ball for valiant Norsewomen, Norse games of strength and dexterity, and youth and family activities. The adult general registration is $15, Child Registration (Ages 12-17) is $5, and children 11 and under are free. The event is located at Camp Dakani, 3309 E Hefner Rd, Oklahoma City, OK 73131. This is inside Oklahoma City limits, putting it in the rough center of the state.
Now, on that same weekend, but on the other end of the kingdom, we have the Barony of Loch Soilleir hosting a full day of classes at their Serpent’s Symposium. There will be everything from master classes to beginner classes. They will also be choosing their A&S, bardic, and youth champions. The adult general registration is $15, Child Registration (Ages 10-17) is $5, and children 9 and under are free. This one-day collegium will be held at Clear Lake Presbyterian Church, 1511 El Dorado Blvd, Houston, Texas 77062. This is just twenty miles south-east from the center of Houston proper.
Moving forward to the weekend of the 10th, the Stronghold of Hellsgate will be hosting the Queens Champion, a two-day camping event running Friday the 9th through the night of Saturday the 10th. This event will focus on the titular competition for rapier fighters, and be held Saturday with the crown in attendance and overseeing the tournament. The adult general registration is $20, Child Registration (Ages 12-18) is $10, and children 11 and under are free. Please also note that tent camping will be charged $10 a night, and there are rooms available for $35 a night. Rooms are limited to 19. To reserve one contact the steward Mistress Melisenda at firstname.lastname@example.org. The site is located at 866 Park Road 35, Groesbeck, TX 76642, which is about 45 minutes east of Waco, and an hour and 45 minutes south of Dallas, TX.
Lastly in the month, we have the Barony of Bordermarch hosting its 6th annual War of the Rams. This five day, camping melee event will run from 1pm Wednesday November 15th, through Sunday the 19th, and will have the crown in attendance. The event will include Arc-d’Or and a Pelican Circles. One matter of import, the event stewards are asking that all charges be paid in cash at the time of arrival, and the final prices will be posted on the Facebook site soon. The event is located at Recreation Road 255 & Private Road 7350 Colmesneil, TX 75938. This is roughly three-and-a-half hours drive time from Dallas, and two hours from Houston.
More information about each of these events can be found on the kingdom calendar, including links to maps, contact information for the stewards, and more detailed breakdown of site registrations, family maximums, and details about membership discounts.
